About Us

Norbern Electronics was incorporated in the state of Colorado in 1988. Owned by Norm and Toni Bernicky of Colorado Springs.

In 1989 Norbern Electronics received the Innovations Award at the International Summer Consumer Electronics Show held at Las Vegas for a product Norm invented called Cam-Tunes. Cam-Tunes is a microphone accessory used by camcorders to record background music from a Walkman cassette  while shooting video. Sales of Cam-Tunes was discontinued in 1991 due to cheap imitations from Japan.

In 1992 Norbern Electronics purchased the assets of Fisher Electronics Co. located at 317 N. Swope, Colorado Springs. Fisher Electronics served Colorado for 22 years as a warranty repair center for 120 consumer electronic manufactures. Their service manual library exceeded 40,000 manuals. Their parts inventory was huge. Test equipment for 5 work stations. These assets greatly aided our repair capabilities.

Norbern Electronics was awarded "Diamond Servicer" status by BOSE for the year 2001. Only a handful of service centers in the USA achieve this rating. It is an overall rating of customer satisfaction and repair quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to repair my equipment?

Average repair time is about 10 working days. Repairs that require ordering parts on average take longer than repairs that don't require parts ordering. Rush repair is available on request.

Why is there a diagnostic fee?

The diagnostic fee allows us to start work on your equipment. This will eliminate the guess work associated with a "free estimate".  We will provide you with an accurate parts and labor charge for your repair not a high-low range. This will help you decide whether or not to have your unit repaired.

Is it cheaper to replace than repair?

If the repair exceeds replacement cost than yes. Often times customers will go shopping after they receive an estimate to see if replacement is the way to go. We are happy to hold your equipment during this time. There are a lot of factors that go into a decision on whether or not to repair. Please feel free to give us a call with any further questions.

Do you do the repairs in house or send them out?

All repairs are done at our location. With the rare exception of some equipment needing factory repairs.

How much is it going to cost to repair my equipment?

After doing a diagnostic we will call you with an guaranteed estimate. The diagnostic fee will be applied to the final charges. The diagnostic fee is not refundable if you do not have your equipment repaired.

Do you sell new equipment, parts or accessories?

No.  Our focus is service not sales.

Do I need an appointment to bring in my equipment?

No. You may bring in your equipment any time during normal business hours.

Do you repair TV's or Computers?

No.
